We are part of a grassroots movement working to provide aid and support to refugees.

We work alongside other teams to send sorted, donated clothing and essential items to refugee camps in France and Greece and — when this is possible — to Syria. Donated items we cannot send are sold to raise funds and we also have events and sponsored activities to raise further money. We are also hoping to run local English and art classes in the future.

In a divided world, making the time to connect with someone different from yourself is a radical act. We use the magic of food to bring people together, connect and share their stories.

Upbeat Communities are offering free sessions for asylum seekers and refugees including English classes, creative activities and a weekly gathering for women all online. We are also able to share vital information in different languages. We are delivering at least one session per day.

At the start of the month, we began face-to-face, socially distanced English classes. So far, we have around 24 students enrolled and enjoying the classes, with many more pending.
